Lucas uses photography and other media to create artwork with a focus on natural subjects and their existence in created environments. Lucas works to explore the interplay between nature and the environment that humans construct, including, plant genetics, and how cultures use examples from nature to understand philosophical and religious ideas. Lucas experiments with digital, analogue, and self-made or adapted photographic equipment, media and printing techniques as well as painting and mixed media.
